Shifting The Blame Robbery suspect says the devil pushed him into crime

An armed robbery suspect who is now in the cells of the Lagos State Police Command, Godwin Michael, has blamed the devil for taking to a life of crime, claiming he was not in his right senses whenever he was robbing.

The 32-year-old Michael, said he was once remanded in 2011 over a robbery case but was released on health grounds but instead of turning a new leaf, he went back to his old vomit.

A police has however described Michael as an unrepentant criminal who belonged to a notorious three-man robbery gang which specialised in breaking into people’s houses.

His latest brush with the law was on April 1, when his gang carried out a house-to-house robbery operation at Ahmadiyya area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

After robbing the first two rooms and went to the third room, one of the robbers, Adeyemi Ibrahim, was arrested and handed over to the police at the Meran Police Station, while Michael and the gang leader fled with the money realised from the raid.

It was Ibrahim who led policemen to arrest Michael at Katangua Market at Abule-Egba,  on the outskirts of Lagos, where he was selling clothes.
